Meet Lisa Baker
As the proud representative for Maylands in the WA Parliament, Lisa is a strong advocate for transport-oriented development for local communities. She works to deliver effective support for local businesses and jobs in her electorate.
Lisa aims to foster prosperity for small businesses, increase opportunities for community groups and support cost of living reduction measures for the community.
She is also a leading voice in Parliament on animal welfare issues, LGBTQIA+ rights and empowering women in the workplace. Her work has been instrumental in shaping WA Labor’s policies, including the recent commitment to an independent animal welfare office.
Lisa has combined her commitment to social justice with her love of horses by achieving an internationally recognised judging qualification which enables her to support and qualify equestrian riders with a disability to compete in the Paralympic Games.
Lisa takes pride in celebrating the strong community spirit within her electorate – Bayswater, Bedford, Embelton, Inglewood, Maylands, and Morley.
Valedictory Speech - November 2024
It is with deep sadness that I inform you that I will not be nominating for the seat of Maylands at the 2025 State election.
You have placed so much faith in me; I appreciate your support and I wanted you to hear this news from me first.
For 16 years in the WA Parliament and more broadly, I have represented not only my electorate but also the interests of the most powerless and vulnerable members of our community – the animals with whom we share this planet.
